Mount Pleasant House

This project is an addition to a heritage stone cottage in the Adelaide Hills, which has been owned by our clients for many years. Used as a weekender and for holiday stays, the extended family had outgrown the small cottage. The design proposal was to add a contemporary pavilion to the original cottage, providing new open living areas, master bedroom and ensuite. The link between new and old becomes the new entry to the home. The kitchen in the old cottage was converted to a bathroom and laundry.

The new pavilion is oriented to make the most of views across the property and also to capture the winter sun. A new outdoor kitchen and dining area under an operable louvered roof, enhanced by the new landscaping around the house make for relaxed outdoor living.
